The Evidence Lockup

When a RICO raid takes a piece of your hot gear, it doesn't vanish. It's logged into a federal evidence room, and for 24 hours you can buy it back off a contact for Dirty Cash.

Nothing about the raid itself changed to make this possible. Raids fire exactly as often as they always did, take exactly as much cash and stash, and jail you for the same two hours. This is a door that opens afterwards, not a softer raid.

What it costs

The figure your contact quotes is 8% of your liquid net worth — Clean plus Dirty added together — multiplied by the grade of the piece. A Legendary costs twice what a Common does, for the same reason it's twice as good. The quote is floored at $5,000 and capped at $500,000, so it's never nothing and never ruinous.

Two things worth knowing about that number:

  • It's a percentage of your worth, not the item's. A cheap pistol and an expensive one cost the same to pull out unless their rarity differs. That's deliberate — a flat price would be pocket change to a rich player and impossible for a new one.
  • It's calculated after the raid has already taken its cut of your Dirty Cash, so the quote is against your reduced balance, not what you had five minutes ago.

You pay in Dirty Cash only. Clean Cash cannot buy evidence back at any price.

The part that actually stops you

There's a second limit, and it's the one that matters: you can only pull 2 pieces out of evidence every 7 days. Past that, the piece is not buyable at any figure — no amount of money changes the answer.

The allowance rolls rather than resetting on a schedule: each pull ages out of the window individually, seven days after you made it, so you get them back one at a time rather than all at once. The lockup page shows how many you have left and when the next one frees up.

Where to find it

The raid notification links straight to it, and there's a doorway on the Jail page — a raid always puts you in a cell, so that's where you'll be standing when it happens. The cell is two hours and the window is twenty-four, so you can walk out and still make it back in time.

There's no left-menu entry, on purpose: for almost everyone, almost always, the room is empty.

Two things that change the maths

Benched gear can't be seized at all. The raid only ever takes something you have equipped. Unequipping your hot pieces before a risky run costs nothing and removes the risk entirely — the Supplier lets you bench an item in a couple of clicks. Running hot gear equipped is a choice you're making for the stats.

A piece comes back unequipped. You buy it, it lands in your inventory, and you put it back on yourself. If your category was already full while it was gone, that's your problem to sort out.

If you let the clock run out

The piece isn't destroyed — it goes to the Federal Auction, and somebody else gets to buy it. That page is under Equipment & the Supplier.
